Olfactory lecture

As part of the temporary exhibition entitled “The perfume bottles” which will take place from February 18, 2022 until December 15, 2022 at the Sorèze Glass Museum, in the Tarn department, we will hold an olfactory conference around perfume intimately linked to the bottle “The bottle, volume of the perfume”.

It will take place on Sunday May 8, 2022 at 3 p.m. and will be followed by a cocktail following the conference.

This title immediately makes you dream of a content loaded with seduction and olfactory magic.

However, the 2022 exhibition at the Sorèze Glass Museum will try to seduce by evoking above all the bottle itself.

From the highest antiquity, the rarity and the attractive power of perfumes led their users to keep them, apart, in small precious containers made of ceramic or glass molded on a clay core, and this, well before the invention. blown glass.

Currently, glass or crystal perfume bottles have become an industry since the end of the 19th century and produce real collector’s items whose design and production fall under both fashion and the decorative arts.

Thanks to the know-how of French crystal factories and glass companies from the Bresle valley in Normandy-Picardy, perfumers and great French fashion designers have seized, through beautiful bottles, a real opportunity to enhance the luxury of the product.

Intense publicity efforts have enabled its democratization.

The exhibition allows, with more than 300 old bottles, simple or refined, sometimes accompanied by their boxes or their boxes, to follow this route and to measure its artistic, sociological and economic interest.
